When joining a new project, I ask myself the following questions:

What kind of team and people are working on the project?

Do they feel safe enough to come forward when they have a problem?

What are their roles, and how do they relate to the product or project?
What are the relationships like with leadership and C-level management? What is the relationship with customers or end users?

Is the current team setup, along with the relationships and communication, compatible with what the development or care of the product/project requires?

My leadership works because of open and empathetic communication. It’s essential to me, as it helps create a psychologically safe environment—one where people feel free to share their opinions, ideas, and even admit mistakes without fear of negative consequences.
